Building on the theme of Service to Others, The TIGER award is designed to recognize staff who demonstrate they are ā€˜serving othersā€™ in their field.  Employees who are recognized are those who go above and beyond the required actions of their assignment with the district.

All Smithville ISD employees may submit nominations for consideration of the TIGER award every nine weeks.

Please note: Nominees will remain active so nominating a particular employee twice throughout the year is not necessary.

2022-2023 TIGER Award

Tiger Award winner - Sandy Kadlecek

Sandy is an amazing interventionist.  She works with some of our lowest students and pushes them to make tremendous growth.  When the campus has to work towards the implementation of something new, such as new STAAR question types or online testing, Sandy jumps right in and does everything she can to make sure that the students get every opportunity to practice and become proficient in that skill.  She jumps in and helps wherever needed, even if is not her most favorite place, and can always be counted on. Thank you Sandy for all that you bring to SES, your dedication is truly appreciated.

Tiger Award Winner - Noe McCarthy

Mr. McCarthy is excellent with PreK and Kindergarten students that ride his bus. As the students call him, "Mr. Mac" is a bright spot at the end of their day, and the kids look forward to their rides with him! He finds a way to make each student feel special-whether it's asking about their day or singing them songs on the bus ride to their destination. Mr. Mac talks with the students about their interests outside of school, and he follows up with the kids to see how they fared in their games or other activities. There is never a question on whether the kids are taken care of! Mr. Mac is a wonderful example of going above and beyond for our kids! Thank you for all that you do and for taking such great care of our children!

Tiger Award winner - Amanda Adams

Mrs. Dredla and Mrs. Adams go above and beyond in their duties at the SISD DEAP campus. Both are quality teachers that try to engage their students in a variety of activities to help broaden their students social skills and knowledge. Both teachers have to cover many different academic subjects with their SHS and SJHS students. These teachers strive to make every student count and do their very best to see that these students return to their home campuses with the skills needed to be successful. They are often the forgotten teachers of the district and deserved to be recognized for their efforts in making every Tiger student count.
