The Lady Tiger and Tiger track and field teams competed in the Area Track and Field Championships in LaGrange on Wednesday, April 10th, and 10 of our athletes will be advancing to Regionals.
For the Tigers, Baylor Watson qualified in Discus, finishing in 1st place. Watson also competed in the Shot Put and finished 5th. Zane Perkins qualified in Pole Vault and finished 4th. Richard Johns qualified for Regionals with a 4th place finish in the High Jump.
On the Girls side, Briyanna Sampson qualified for Regionals in both Long Jump and Triple Jump. Sampson finished 2nd in both events. Kaylynn Hodges competed in High Jump, finishing 2nd and qualifying for Regionals.
Emorie Jones qualified in both the 3200m and 1600m, finishing 2nd in both events. Cassie Barina qualified in the 800m run, taking 2nd place. Addison Waneck took Gold in both the 400m and 800m events, qualifying her for Regionals.
The Lady Tigers capped off the night with an amazing 4x400m relay competition. The 4x400m Relay team of Marisela Dominguez, Cassie Barina, Saylor Strain, and Addison Waneck finished 2nd and qualified for the regional track meet. The Lady Tiger track and field team finished 2nd at the Area Championship with 86 points.
The Regional Track Meet will be held in Bullard, Texas on April 19th-20th. The top 2 finishers in each event advanced to the UIL State Track meet on May 2nd -3rd.
