As we gear up for this year's Roarin' Red Brick Trunk or Treat, we wanted to take a look back at the 2023-2024 Trunk or Treat.
In October of 2023, Smithville ISD's ACE Program hosted the Lights on Afterschool Trunk or Treat. This event was attended by over 450 adults and children. At the event, ACE teachers hosted various educational and fun games for the attending students while parents in the community passed out candy from their vehicles. We welcomed a variety of visitors including Representative Stan Gerdes, Sheriff Maurice Cook, Constable Joey Dzienowski, Commissioner Mel Hamner, BCSO Outreach Robert Williams, City of Smithville PD and Smithville's Fire Department who held Fire Engine Tours. The Smithville Public Library joined to pass out bookmarks, SISD Child Nutrition passed out goodies and the Smithville Noon Lions Club supported as well. When reviewing the feedback responses for the event, one thing was sure, this event must happen again and be even bigger than the first!
Smithville ISD's ACE Program would like to invite you to join us for the 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat and as requested, this year, it will be bigger! The Roarin' Red Brick Trunk or Treat will be held on October 26th from 5:00-7:30 PM. We are celebrating 100 years of the Red Brick Building with this Trunk or Treat! You can tour the building and learn about its rich history. There will be games, a DJ, Kona Ice will be selling snow cones, door prizes, face painting and more!
We are still looking for volunteers to pass out candy, prizes, or host a game from their vehicle.
If you plan to attend, please complete the RSVP form here so we can plan accordingly:
ACE Cares will have a donation station at the event to accept monetary donations on behalf of the Smithville Food Pantry and Smithville PD's Blue Santa.
Why Lights on Afterschool?
Lights on Afterschool is a nationwide event that highlights the impact after school programs have on students, families, and the community. We want to “shine a light” on the Smithville ISD ACE Program! The ACE program supports our community by giving students access to high quality academic and enrichment activities, family engagement opportunities, a continuous network of support that promotes academic and social emotional development and our afterschool program fills the gap between the school day and out of school time.
