The Roarin’ Red Brick Trunk or Treat took place on Saturday October 26th. This was our second annual Trunk or Treat event and, wow, was it a Roarin’ success! More than 1000 attended this year and we could not be more thrilled with the support our event received!
The ACE Program hosts this event every year to highlight Lights on After School. Lights on Afterschool is a nationwide event that highlights the impact after school programs have on students, families, and the community. The ACE program supports our community by giving students access to high quality academic and enrichment activities, family engagement opportunities, a continuous network of support that promotes academic and social emotional development and our afterschool program fills the gap between the school day and out of school time. We “shine a light” on the Smithville ISD ACE Program!
In addition to the Trunk or Treat, we celebrated the 100th anniversary of our Central Administration “Red Brick” building. Superintendent Burns welcomed people into the building for tours and to view the many articles and photos that showcased the history of the building and what it has meant to Smithville ISD.
Thanks to the generosity of the event attendees, the ACE Cares Donation Station was able to drop off $118.00 and almost 40 pounds of food to the Smithville Food Pantry and $118.00 to the Smithville Police Department for their Blue Santa.
Thank you to the ACE staff and community members for setting up games and passing out candy. Thank you to the SHS students who volunteered to help with event set up and face painting.
