Child Find

Child Find refers to the state-developed policies and procedures which ensure that all children with disabilities residing in Texas, regardless of the severity of their disabilities, who are in need of special education and related services are identified, located, and evaluated.

Local education agencies or school districts must ensure that a free appropriate education (FAPE) is given or provided to all individuals with disabilities, for ages ranging from three to 21, who qualify for special education services. Along with the assistance of the Texas Education Agency, the Education Service Centers and with the Early Childhood Intervention program, local education agencies must ensure that early intervention services are made available for all those children, ranging from birth to three with an identified need or disability.

If you are interested in learning more about Special Education services that are available for your child or about services for which your child might qualify and you live in the Smithville ISD, please call the Smithville ISD Special Education Department at 512-237-2487.
